We are Jean-Louise and David Jirik and although we've been married just eight years, we've had a love affair most of our lives - - with our pets!
A blended household, we now have four dogs, Wallace, the Scottish Terrier, Newton the Newtonian Terrier, Misha the Papillon/Poodle and Rosie, the Lhasa Apso. Newton, Misha and Rosie are rescues.
In researching Rosie's recurring uncomfortable (and costly) health problem, we kept running across the recommendation to feed her the raw diet as a solution. We had tried everything else so we asked ourselves--why not? The worst thing that could happen is that we change back to a cooked diet, right?
After making the decision to go raw, we had to figure out how to do it as we had a coule of problems. Meats, especially organs, are icky and Jean-Louise (former vegetarian) is NOT going to go there and David avoids anything having to do with the kitchen.
When the Bravo! Raw Diet was recommended for its high quality ingredients, it sounded like the right solution for us. No mess(!) and it is pre-ground, premixed and frozen. All we have to do is thaw and feed and even David can do that.
After deciding on the food, our only problem was that the closest retailer was an hour away in Los Angeles County . Undaunted, we went anyway and that is where we met the remarkable women who own Apawfect World in Torrance . They nursed us along in the conversion to raw so both the dogs and the humans survived, even thrived.
After only about a week into the new diet both dogs began responding. A little more energy, fewer symptoms and they loved the diet! After a month we had two remarkably new dogs. Rosie was no longer itching and uncomfortable,
Here's where the luck came in. We were looking for a new opportunity to use our extra office space and were able to become Bravo resellers in Orange County with the encouragement from our friends at Apawfect World. We know we aren't the only people here who want to feed a high quality raw diet in the easiest, least messy, non-icky, way possible.
While doing research, we also learned about Animal Essentials and decided to add their supplements to our product offerings. Again, we have had splendid results with Petunia and Rosie on the Animal Essentials supps, and, frankly, their health is what matters. It helps that they like the taste, too.
As raw fed dogs now, Wallace, Newton Misha and Rosie are living proof that we have made the right decisions. They have more energy than before, no allergy symptoms, better skin and coats, cleaner teeth, and better breath. We have far exceeded our original goals. Originally we were out to manage some allergy symptoms, which we have. Now, we have four darling dogs who are more playful, smell better, look better and feel better than when we started this journey.
We're going to keep it raw around our house and our four Cool Pet Raw Gourmets like it that way.
