How to get started with a raw diet

Never fed your dog raw?

Never fear! Help is near!

What to buy:

There is a good probability that your pet will love the raw diet and it's important that they do. If you have any doubts, don't stock up on just one flavor. Start with small amounts of the two best-selling and best priced Bravo Blends--chicken and turkey.

How to transition to raw:

Go gently with a 10 day transition.

Start with 25% raw mixed with the regular diet for days 1-3. Increase to 50% raw, 50% current food on days 4-6. Days 7-9 feed 755 raw and 15% previous diet. Day 20—All raw!

What to feed:

Variety is a key to total nutrition for our raw fed animals and with Bravo Blends it is easy. We feed less than a pound per day to our dogs so a 2 lb. chub lasts over 2 days. For our animals with no allergies, we rotate the 2 lb chubs as follows: chicken, turkey, chicken, turkey, beef or lamb. Then repeat.

What to supplement:

We believe in supplementing our own diets and do so for our dogs as well. We follow Animal Essential's recommendations and add EFAs, digestive enzymes, multi vitamins and calcium to their diet.

How much to feed:

The rule of thumb or paw as it were is 2%-3% of your adult dog's body weight per day. Growing puppies need a little more. If your dog weighs 50lbs, it's 1 to
1 1/2 pounds per day. A 25lb. dog would get 8-12oz per day. Here's a chart that lets you calculate the amount based on your pet's weight. Use the 2% column as a guidline for an adult dog.
